PREPD Hydration is now prepped and ready to push into the international market. PREPD Hydration closed out its crowd sourced funding raise at AUD$789,153,96. The revolutionary hydration boosting drink, is eyeing Europe and the US for international growth. Initially PREPD Hydration planned to raise capital privately for US expansion in March 2020 but with COVID-19 disrupting the market, the brand launched its crowdfunding campaign to continue its international expansion in the larger markets of US and Europe.

PREPD is a hydration solution based on more than 20 years of ground-breaking collaborative medical research between Flinders and Yale Universities. With little or no advances in hydration technology since sports drinks were invented 50 or so years ago, PREPD seeks to capitalise on the $228 billion global industry by growing PREPD’s brand in the new sub-category PREPD has created for ‘pre-hydration’. 

PREPD Hydration has gained considerable growth in the Australian sports nutrition market since its inception in 2018, including clinical trial results published in 2018 showed a dramatic hydration boost with AFL players using PREPD compared with consuming leading sports drinks only. In the past five months the product has maintained consistent sales in the domestic market and has started a partnership with the AFL Umpires Association, after being used consistently by six AFL teams and has been targeted by elite athlete teams as a hydration partner for 2021. PREPD is sold online through, and is also stocked in over 100 sports specialty retailers, in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, ACT, Tasmania and New South Wales. Off the back of a strong first 12months in the market, which has culminated with 82% MOM sales growth in February 2020, resoundingly positive consumer feedback,

PREPD works by using proprietary resistant starch formulations, which triggers hydration in the gut. Co-inventor Prof. Graeme Young from Flinders explains, “While the human body can’t store water in reserve, the unique resistant starch in PREPD unlocks the largely unused hydration potential of the large intestine to absorb up to 5L of fluid per day.”
